Explore the Outdoors this Winter
Just because it’s winter, doesn’t always mean you have to hibernate in front of the fire for the next few weeks. With a couple of weeks of indulgence coming up, you might want to get out and about before the mince pies take over! If you fancy braving the winter frost this year and taking in the sights, let Premier Motorhomes give you a few tips on what you can do. Whether you’re heading out with your other half, your kids or even your grandchildren, there’s something to occupy everyone this winter.
Track the wildlife
Spending time outdoors is great for so many reasons, including getting some fresh air! You might find that, despite the cold weather, you are able to spot a number of different wildlife, making for a lovely day out exploring.
With sparse trees and bushes, you might find it easier to spot animals including birds, hedgehogs or even deer if you’re lucky. If you’ve had snow, you could even spend the day looking at the tracks made by the animals and following them!
The likes of swans, ducks and geese migrate to the UK for the winter, so keep an eye out if you’re near a lake. Remember; food can be hard to come by for many types of birds in winter, so take feeders with you to place around your surroundings to help them out!
Visit a landmark
It’s likely that some of the most popular tourist attractions in the UK will be much quieter in the winter. If you’ve always wanted to visit somewhere significant, for example Hadrian’s Wall or Stonehenge, then you might be lucky and have it all to yourself!
In summer, attractions such as these are most likely to be busy on a daily basis, but winter will see a much smaller crowd.
Hiking trails
With so many undiscovered hiking trails in the UK, wrap up warm and get out in the fresh air; you might even enjoy the added bonus of a bit of exercise. The UK has so many breath-taking sights that you might not think about in your usual daily routine.
So, whether you prefer the likes of the Yorkshire Dales, or taking a stroll along an empty beach, winter might just be the perfect time to do it.
